New Albany Special Education Teacher:

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill an open position as a Special Education Teacher at New Albany School. This is a tenure-track position that will require the candidate to work closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure the delivery of high-quality education services. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a passion for working with students with special needs in an elementary setting. The teacher will implement best practice strategies in the classroom while recognizing individual instructional needs; provide accommodations and modifications to curriculum and materials to meet students' needs; follow through on behavioral strategies and interventions that are driven by the students' Individualized Education Program (IEP). The position also requires the teacher to oversee and provide support to Educational Support Professionals assigned to the classroom or individual students.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group instruction to students with special needs
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other special education staff to ensure students receive appropriate support
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Attend IEP meetings and other meetings related to student progress and services
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and services
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and trends in special education

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education
  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
