Position: Elementary School Special Education Teacher - Language-Based Learning Disability (LBLD) Program This position would report to the building principal Key Responsibilities: Provide direct, specialized instruction in reading, writing, and language using evidence-based methodologies such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LiPS, Seeing Stars, and others. Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that reflect student strengths, needs, and learning goals. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including general educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and reading specialists, to ensure comprehensive support for each student. Integrate executive functioning and study skills into daily instruction to promote student independence and organization. Utilize a variety of data sources and progress monitoring tools to assess student growth and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide students with access to assistive technology and tools that support literacy development and academic engagement. Maintain consistent communication with families and participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and family conferences. Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student confidence, engagement, and a love for learning. Administer standardized assessments and develop detailed, comprehensive evaluation reports to support special education eligibility determinations and inform individualized instructional planning.
