Position Details

POSITION: Special Education Parapro at Grayling Elementary School - Up to 3 positions

DESCRIPTION: Full-time paraprofessional to work with special education students.Will be responsible to the special education teacher and the classroom teacher, who will coordinate services and tasks designed by the special education team. Responsibilities may include recess, lunch, toileting, hygiene, restraining and lifting, and assistance into and out of the building.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have at least a high school diploma and must meet No Child Left Behind requirements for certification and qualification. Must be able to communicate at a high level both orally and in writing. Paraprofessional will be required and applicant must be willing to assist with toileting when necessary. Must interact successfully with students and staff, have self-initiative, and demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision. Must be flexible and organized, and be team-oriented with a willingness to collaborate and communicate with school staff and special education specialists. Must be patient, calm, consistent, and possess an easy-going demeanor. Must be a quick thinker with the ability to problem-solve on short notice. Must be physically able to use physical management when required. Must be physically able to run, climb, and move quickly. Must be willing to engage in any necessary duties as requested by the building principal. Must be willing to continue to obtain further training and professional development as it applies to this position.

WORK YEAR: "Student days" plus holidays and vacation days, 7 hours per day.

SALARY: According to the terms of the Master Agreement
