NATURE OF POSITION: Responsible for leadership and coordination in the use of technology to support the mission of the school and the technology-related academic concerns of the student body. This position involves Information Technology strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of technology initiatives, as well as an understanding of a school environment and the demands included within it.

REPORTING FUNCTION: Reports to the Director of Information Technology relative to administrative and system-wide technology issues and scheduling of work. Reports to the Principal relative to academic matters. Reports to the Principal on all matters if there is no Director of Information Technology.

Duties may include any of the following:
IT Support, Education and Training
  • Serve as a part-time IT Help Desk analyst.
  • Assist in the continual building of the IT knowledge base and ensure that its instructions are adequate and accurate.
  • Evaluate support materials and find innovations for supporting faculty, staff, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate and/or provide training for users in the use of information technologies.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development as needed and approved.
IT Administration
  • Attend IT Department meetings as needed.
  • Attend Faculty meetings as needed.
  • Attend the Information Technology advisory board meetings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality of user credentials and data.
  • Propose the purchase of information technologies.
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with vendors.
  • Assist in the development of the IT budget.
IT Installation and Maintenance
  • Day-to-day care of information technologies, including but not limited to:
    • Website and portal development and maintenance.
    • Academic and office-related application programs.
    • Client computer workstations.
    • Printers and imaging devices.
    • Audio-visual equipment including projection services, smart technology, TV, and sound systems.
  • Identify the school's needs and assist in the development and implementation of IT solutions.
Academic
  • Instruct students formally within the classroom as well as informally or in collaboration with other faculty members.
  • Coordinate the use of information technologies for academic purposes.
  • Assist in providing technological tools for various departments, particularly those of the faculty, to better educate and assist students.
  • Coordinator/Assist the School Principal on Technology Education for students and curriculum integration.
  • Provide IT support for school-wide functions.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a mature, detail-oriented individual with above-average keyboard skills, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to understand and follow instructions, as well as work independently. The person should possess an overall knowledge of school operations. This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware/appliances/software systems, systems design and development processes, network infrastructure, and proficient technical skills in Windows desktop, Windows server services, and Microsoft Office applications. The person must have a strong understanding of the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church to ensure that all facets of school information technologies reflect those values. Cordial and effective communication with priests, parents, students, faculty, vendors, committee members, officers of church councils, and Diocesan office personnel is an ongoing necessity. This person should be a self-starter, capable of independent problem-solving and decision-making within the scope of authority provided. Trustworthiness, reliability, willingness to maintain confidentiality, and the ability to complete routine and delegated assignments on time are essential. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

EDUATIONAL/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: An Associate Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Ideally with work experience or additional courses in Education. Or a degree in Education with computer information technology experience/coursework.
