Posting Information: We are currently hiring an Integrated Support Specialist (0.5 FTE) and Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA)/Instructional Coach (0.5 FTE) at Evergreen Elementary School beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.

Interview Process: If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview. Candidates chosen for a second round interview will participate in an in-person interview.

Schedule: 1.0 FTE, 180 days per school year, 7 hours per day. This position will support 0.5 FTE as an Integrated Support Specialist & 0.5 FTE as Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA) - Instructional Coach.

Location: Evergreen Elementary

Salary: $64,664 - $119,032 annually, depending on experience. The listed salary range is based on the 2025-2026 school year and will be updated once 2026-2027 salaries are finalized.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Overview

The Elementary Integrated Support Specialist / Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) supports the Shelton School District Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans through instructional coaching, intervention support, and collaborative professional learning. This position works in partnership with teachers, administrators, and support staff to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, implement evidence-based interventions, and improve student achievement outcomes in literacy and mathematics.

The role provides embedded coaching and instructional support within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including professional development, data analysis, intervention coordination, and supplemental student support services aligned to Title I and Learning Assistance Program (LAP) requirements. The position promotes equitable access to high-quality instruction and fosters a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and student success.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with elementary endorsement.
  • Ability to pass a Federal Criminal Background Check.
  • Minimum of five years of successful elementary teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of elementary literacy and mathematics instruction.
  • Experience using student assessment data to inform instruction and intervention.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, intervention systems, progress monitoring practices, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Experience working in Title I and/or LAP programs (preferred)
  • Training in evidence-based literacy intervention practices, including structured literacy.
  • Experience supporting multilingual learners and students with diverse learning needs.
  • Instructional coaching or teacher leadership experience.
  • Experience facilitating small-group intervention instruction and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Ability to coach and support teachers using collaborative and reflective practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining positive, professional relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and incorporate lightheartedness, fun, and humor into the workplace.
  • Excellent, effective communication skills including the use of active listening, two-way communication, and the use of appropriate communication channels.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and instructional technology tools.

Essential Functions

  • Implements instructional coaching cycles with teachers including goal setting, collaborative planning, modeling lessons, co-teaching, classroom observation, and learning-focused feedback.
  • Provides supplemental small-group and/or individual instruction and intervention in literacy and mathematics aligned with district, Title I, and Learning Assistance Program (LAP) requirements.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and support staff to identify students needing additional academic support through screening, formative assessment, and progress monitoring data.
  • Assists teachers in aligning instruction with district-supported standards, curriculum, assessments, and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Models effective instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, and intervention practices to support diverse learners.
  • Supports implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), intervention frameworks, and district instructional initiatives.
  • Assists staff in gathering, analyzing, and using formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional decisions, intervention planning, and student placement.
  • Supports teachers and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in implementing systems for progress monitoring and continuous instructional improvement.
  • Provides embedded professional development and coaching support aligned to district initiatives, School Improvement Plans, and identified staff needs.
  • Collaborates with administrators, specialists, special education staff, multilingual learner staff, counselors, intervention teams, and other support personnel to coordinate student services and supports.
  • Maintains accurate records, intervention documentation, progress monitoring data, and compliance requirements related to Title I, LAP, and district expectations.
  • Participates in district and building leadership teams, professional learning opportunities, and school improvement efforts that support equitable student outcomes.
  • Supports family engagement efforts related to student achievement, intervention services, and instructional support.
  • Maintains current knowledge of evidence-based instructional and intervention practices, particularly in literacy and mathematics.
  • Develops and maintains positive, professional, and confidential relationships with staff, students, families, administrators, and community partners.
  • Utilizes effective communication strategies including active listening, collaboration, two-way communication, and appropriate communication channels.
  • Oversees and supports district-designated data collection and reporting responsibilities.
