POSITION: Elementary Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction

LOCATION: Central Office Itinerant

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 200 Days

SALARY: Salary based upon degree and experience on current salary schedule (State & County)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Certified by the State of West Virginia to teach K-6 or K-8 Elementary Grades (preferred), valid WV administrative certificate

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Elementary Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction

Location: Central Office Itinerant

Employment Term: 200 days

Salary: Based on degree and experience on current salary schedule (State and County)

Qualifications: Masters Degree

Certified in Elementary K-6, or Multi Subjects K-8 preferred

Valid West Virginia Administration Certification

Documented coaching experience formal/informal preferred

Experience and training in research-based strategies for ELA and Math preferred

Knowledge and training in shared leadership, the change process and school

improvement preferred

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Training in interpreting/using assessments for data driven decision making preferred

Knowledge and experience in federal programs requirements preferred

Experience in providing services as described in the job responsibilities preferred

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical assistance in the areas of curriculum and instruction
  • Provides leadership in the design and implementation of improvement planning, data analysis, curriculum alignment, assessments, and instructional strategies
  • Provides direction and support for the implementation of state standards
  • Assists in the evaluation of teachers
  • Assists with the facilitation of professional learning communities
  • Provides guidance for tracking longitudinal data for student achievement
  • Assists with development, implementation, and evaluation of school strategic plan(s)
  • Observes teacher and student performance in reading and mathematics and recommends resources and strategies providing job-embedded professional development utilizing an academic coaching model
  • Conducts walkthroughs to determine utilization of instructional practices increasing student learning
  • Assists in planning and implementing school based sustained professional development based on identified student academic needs
  • Participates in professional development to remain current with change and improvement processes, research-based instructional strategies and curriculum development, as well as state and federal policies
  • Communicates regularly with school principal(s)
  • Fosters professional relationships and collegiality among staff members through planning, co-teaching, and grade level team meetings
  • Utilizes assessments to guide instruction at all grade levels
  • Provides direction for effective Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) implementation
