Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Elementary Art Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop artistic skills, creativity, and self-expression while fostering an appreciation for the visual arts. The successful candidate will create engaging, standards-based lessons that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and confidence in every student.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art instruction for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5
- Develop lessons aligned with the Indiana Academic Standards for Visual Arts
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to explore and express themselves
- Teach a variety of artistic techniques, media, and art history concepts
- Maintain an organized, safe, and well-equipped art classroom while managing art supplies and materials responsibly
- Display student artwork throughout the school and support school-wide art exhibitions or special events
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Art Education or a related field
- Valid Indiana Teaching License
- Must complete and pass the Indiana Art Praxis Content Assessment (or meet Indiana licensing requirements for Art)
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Commitment to fostering creativity, inclusion, and lifelong appreciation of the arts
