They have been hiring Veterans for Specialist roles which are Installer and Technician positions in locations across the country. They have been hiring low voltage electronics systems with good work ethic and strong communication skills.
Many of the technicians at this company are prior military electronics techs and they have worked out great. They have Fire Alarm and Security Technicians. In these roles you will be responsible for installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects including small to large projects that vary in complexity. This location is currently hiring specialists who will need to use their electronic troubleshooting and repair skills to install and integrate systems. After installations you will need to be able to troubleshoot and repair these electronic systems as well. You will be working on many different systems, you will work on Security or other electronic systems, like Access Control and AV technical systems and Fire Alarm systems. You will also need to show you can assist in delivering assigned projects effectively and within budgeted cost and time schedules. At times, you may need to act as a key interface for technical support with the customer, training them on the installed systems and maximizing customer satisfaction, so communication and customer service skills are important for this role.
The key things they are looking for in this role are strong low voltage electronic system troubleshooting and repair experience to go along with networking experience as you will be integrating systems. You must be able to read a multi-meter and do voltage calculations. On top of this, they emphasized that you will need to show you are a problem solver who is a self-starter that takes initiative, has energy and excitement to be in this industry.
This opening is unique due to the location in Billings MT. You will be covering all of Montana & Wyoming but they need you to be based out of the Helena area, so their will be about 75% overnight travel, usually gone a week at a time. They do try to have you home every weekend so it is rare you will have to work one. There will also be some weeks were you are traveling more locally, so you can drive home each night.
They give you a company vehicle on day one that you can take home at night. There are times they will fly you to a location if it is on the outskirts and driving does not make sense.
Training will be on the job, riding along with an experienced Specialist for the first 3-6 months until you are up to speed and able to handle jobs on your own.
They do have an on-call rotation that comes up once every 7-8 weeks for a week. During this week you will receive a weekly stipend and get paid overtime for any call you go out on, getting paid for windshield time.
