ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Electronic Technician, Chief Electronic Technician, Senior Electronic Technician II
POSITION SUMMARY This position, under direct supervision, performs a variety of work relating to the maintenance and calibration of electronic components and digital equipment with frequent opportunities to plan and make decisions relative to details of assigned duties.
SALARY: MIN $21.33 per hour, MID $27.73 per hour commensurate with experience and skill set (includes an excellent benefit package with 24 days of PTO, employer paid health and life insurance, pension plan and more).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY May order supplies, equipment parts, materials, and equipment for department use as approved by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE One year experience in the repair and maintenance of sophisticated electronic apparatus preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Texas driver's license. Class I Wastewater Collection System Operator license (for Electronic Techs working in the Collection system), Class D wastewater (for Electronic Techs working in the plant) or D water (at the water plant) or the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.
KNOWLEDGE Must possess a basic understanding of A.C. and D.C. analog and digital circuitry and an analytical mind toward instrumentation technology.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have mechanical and some construction skills. Ability to recognize the relationship between the electronics and the electrical systems used. Ability to calculate mathematical formulas.
GUIDANCE RECEIVED Receives ongoing detailed supervision and standard procedures. Follows standard procedures and/or detailed instructions for each task or assignment; any situation that calls for something different is referred to a supervisor or more senior position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires passing a physical and physical ability assessment specific to the position.
WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions include exposure to weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust, standing for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down several flights of stairs, climbing and descending ladders, working at heights, and working in tight or confined spaces.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT Precision test equipment, electrically insulated hand tools, two-way radio, power tools calibration, and maintenance equipment, analog and digital equipment, office equipment, and pickup truck.
