Who we are and what we do:
The mission of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is to operate safe and secure prisons and provide effective community supervision in order to enhance public safety. The department manages and operates or oversees 14 state prisons housing approximately 21,000 offenders. In addition, the department supervises some 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community correction and operates six Day Reporting/Community Resource Centers across the state. The department is fully accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
Job Overview:
Under general supervision, performs advanced electronic security systems management work of considerable difficulty and strategic importance. This role provides statewide leadership for Electronic Security Systems operations, staff, and infrastructure within an ITS and/or correctional/state government environment.
The incumbent oversees system design, implementation, maintenance, and support for electronic security technologies, including fence detection, video surveillance, access control, and supporting IT infrastructure. This position also provides fourth-level technical support and ensures alignment with agency policies, security standards, and operational needs.
This classification differs from the Electronic Security Systems Supervisor by having statewide managerial responsibility, broader strategic oversight, and accountability for policy, planning, and cross-agency coordination.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university, and Five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Industrial automation systems/software development; Industrial electronics design, installation, or repair; Low-voltage alarms, surveillance, and access control systems; IT infrastructure (servers, operating systems, network devices, wireless systems); Security electronics systems support and troubleshooting
At least one (1) year of supervisory experience required
Experience in an ITS and/or correctional/state government environment preferred
