Role Overview

Picture your day starting on the production floor at 2260 Industrial Way, Vineland, NJ. You meet briefly with the Maintenance Supervisor, review overnight production notes, and head out to the line where a conveyor sensor is intermittently faulting. You diagnose the issue, swap a faulty component, and verify operation. From there, you pivot to scheduled PMs, fabricate a small guard for a new piece of equipment, and log your completed work before assisting with the setup of a recently installed system. Throughout the shift, you keep quality and food safety top-of-mind, coordinating with Quality Assurance at the first sign of a deviation.

Position, Pay, and Schedule

  • Position Type: Union Position with Union Benefits
  • Starting Pay: $31.07 per hour
  • Location: 2260 Industrial Way, Vineland, NJ
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts (day or night shift to be determined)

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues by assessing equipment conditions, pinpointing root causes, and executing effective repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and document all work accurately and completely.
  • Install, maintain, and repair production and facility systems, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Fabricate parts, guards, brackets, and light structures with maintenance shop tools.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
  • Support development and improvement of computerized preventative maintenance programs (CMMS).
  • Complete all tasks in compliance with quality and food safety requirements; notify Quality Assurance of any deviations or concerns.
  • Follow all company safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.

Skills That Set You Up for Success

Technical & Professional

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of GMPs and food manufacturing best practices.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and regulatory frameworks (FDA, EPA, OSHA, and applicable state regulations).
  • Proven diagnostic and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.

Interpersonal

  • Clear verbal and written communication; able to explain concepts and ideas effectively.
  • Strong organization; able to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Sound decision-making and initiative.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, and write English.
  • Minimum 2 years as a mechanic in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Food industry experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • 40+ hours per week.
  • Shift schedules may include 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift coverage.
  • Weekday and weekend availability may be required.
  • Work schedules may vary between 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts.
