Electro-Mechanical Field Service Specialist

Step onto a busy factory floor, listen to the rhythm of machines, and zero in on the root cause of a fault. As an Electro-Mechanical Field Service Specialist, you will keep production moving through expert break-fix work, diligent preventive maintenance, and clear communication with customers.

What you will do

  • Diagnose issues by observing equipment in operation, tracing symptoms to their source, and performing hands-on root-cause analysis.
  • Disassemble machinery to remove and replace defective parts, adjust functional components and control instruments, and return assets to service.
  • Execute both corrective and preventive maintenance to industry standards with minimal supervision, documenting all work in service reports and management systems.
  • Partner closely with customer teams to plan and carry out maintenance, reliability initiatives, and preventive routines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuitry, mechanical assemblies, and fluid power systems; apply in-depth knowledge across electro-mechanical domains.
  • Work within industrial control systems to analyze complex equipment behavior, resolve problems, and restore performance.
  • Set up and operate machining equipment such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders to fabricate or repair parts; welding may be required.
  • Identify and requisition parts, supplies, and repair items needed to complete work safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to customer contractor codes of conduct, site housekeeping expectations, and all safety processes; maintain strong situational awareness and call out unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Pursue on-the-job training and self-directed technical study to advance your skills and career.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree with a technical focus and 5 years related industry experience, or 7 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Skilled with basic hand tools and specialized tools appropriate to the work.
  • Proven ability to analyze electrical, mechanical, and fluid power problems, develop alternatives, and carry out effective repairs.
  • Extensive travel required local, national, and international.

Preferred experience

  • Preventive maintenance methods, precision measurement, mechanical alignments, and general upkeep of process equipment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, field devices, and electrical drive and motor systems.

Physical demands and work environment

Expect regular standing, walking, reaching, handling with hands and fingers, climbing and balancing including on ladders or lifts, and entering confined spaces. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and clear verbal communication are part of the role. Sitting may be occasional. You will at times lift or move more than 50 pounds. Close and color vision are regularly needed. Work may include exposure to outdoor weather and electrical shock risk. Factory environments are typically very loud and may include hazardous materials and greasy or slippery conditions.
