Job Summary:

As the Electrification Controls System Senior Engineer, you will be accountable for contributing to the concept, development, and design of complex components, systems, subsystems, or processes for the electronics system that supports Caterpillar's electrification product line. This position performs complex analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves problems.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform requirements analysis and decomposition

  • Conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis

  • Create boundary diagrams and interface specifications

  • Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas

  • Design and promote new control systems and sub processes

  • Perform network analysis

  • Analyze engineering data from engines or machines

  • Evaluate new products or processes or systems

  • Perform integration lab testing

  • Perform product maintenance

  • Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers.

What You Will Have:

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems..

Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.

Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience with authoring Software Requirement Specifications

  • Experience with datalinks including J1939 and Ethernet

  • Previous experience with software development.

  • Experience collaborating with process partners to guide design decisions.

  • Proficiency with MATLAB modeling software.

  • Personal experience in executing software delivery cycle from requirements through validation.

Additional Information:

  • This position may require up to 15% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
