Division of Facilities Management - South District
The Division of Facilities Management (DFM) is a customer-driven support organization responsible for operating, maintaining and managing the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards. This is done in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing a safe, sanitary and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, patients, consumers and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities, campuses and in the surrounding neighborhoods. These services include the day-to-day facility maintenance and operational needs of buildings, grounds, custodial and fleet services.
South District services the following facilities:
Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP)
Pueblo Regional Center (PRC)
Department of Corrections (DOC)
Division of Youth Services (Zeb Pike, Spring Creek and Pueblo Youth Services Center)
Veteran's Community Living Centers in the South District, as needed.
Description of Job
You are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times.
Please note: Work arrangements are subject to change at any time.
This is a full time, in person and essential position.
The purpose of this position is to maintain all electrical branch-circuit, feeder, service equipment, bonding systems, devices, equipment and facility systems in a complete and thorough journeyman-like manner, using proper procedures, tools and equipment and maintain all systems in accordance with applicable code and regulatory standards. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Repair of Electrical Equipment
Maintain all electrical branch-circuit, feeder, service equipment, bonding systems, devices, equipment and facility systems in a complete and thorough journeyman-like manner, using proper procedures, tools and equipment and maintain all systems in accordance with applicable code and regulatory standards.
Design Systems
For new construction, additions, and remodels, design, layout, and determine materials required to install new and adapt existing electrical branch distribution systems, devices, raceways, wiring, appliances and equipment per N.E.C requirements. Coordinate and work with associated trades and contractors to accomplish same.
Read, Create, Redline Blueprints/Schematics
Read, interpret, design, draw and modify blueprints, wiring schematics and wiring diagrams to service and maintain new and existing electrical branch distribution systems, devices, appliances and equipment per N.E.C requirements.
Preventative Maintenance of Electrical Equipment
Perform required and trade related preventative and predictive maintenance on existing stationary and mobile electrical branch distribution systems, devices, appliances and equipment per N.E.C. requirements.

Other duties
Additional duties other than those normally required by this position. These might include snow removal, assisting other departments with general labor requirements, etc.
Call Back applies when an eligible nonexempt employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift. An eligible nonexempt employee does not have to be on call eligible to receive call back pay. If there is no release from work between the call back hours and regular shift, it is considered a continuation of the shift and call back does not apply; instead, if applicable, the nonexempt employee may earn overtime or compensatory time. When a nonexempt employee is called back, they are entitled to a minimum of two (2) hours of their regular base pay (call back pay) or pay for the actual amount of time spent responding to the call, whichever is greater. Call back time is counted as work time.
Essential Positions. Positions that perform essential services directly necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of patients, residents and offenders of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can only be FLSA nonexempt and can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption.
On Call is additional pay beyond base pay for eligible, nonexempt employees who are specifically scheduled to be on call. Employees are entitled to on-call pay only when they are not working but are scheduled to be available to respond to communications or report to a worksite within a reasonable period of time. Employees who are on call are able to use their personal time effectively. Only time while actually on call shall be paid at the on call rate. In call back situations, employees eligible for both on call and call back pay shall receive call back pay only.

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
Applicants must possess current, valid licensure as a journeyman electrician or master electrician from the Colorado Electrical Board.

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies
A valid and active master electrician license issued by the State of Colorado
Relevant years of state service experience
Demonstrated experience in repairing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems, including electrical distribution and security systems and electrical preventative maintenance; fire alarms and other automation controls and systems.
Demonstrated experience in reviewing and documenting audits and inspections of electrical projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of proper procedures in the handling, care and response to exposure to hazardous materials.
Demonstrated knowledge of NEC - National Electrical Code.
Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA - National Fire Protection Association 110- Emergency Power.
Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA - National Fire Protection Association - 101.
Demonstrated ability to read and understand sketches, shop drawings and complex blueprints.
Excellent skills and abilities in oral and written communication; the ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand, and ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Strong ability to prioritize work assignments appropriately and accomplish tasks within established timeframes.
Excellent customer service skills; anticipates and understands customer needs and expectations; takes action appropriately; understands the impact of decisions on customers.
Conditions of Employment
This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application, and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.
A full pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process as this position is deemed to have direct contact with vulnerable persons. Felony convictions, conviction of crimes of moral turpitude, or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from being considered for this position. Must currently possess and maintain throughout employment in this position, an active and valid Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician license issued by the State of Colorado.
Must possess and maintain a valid non-restricted Colorado driver's license.
Out-of-State Driver's License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of employment start date.
Must successfully pass Motor Vehicle Check
Travel - This position will be required to drive State Vehicles as part of daily work assignment from site to site equipped with tools to perform daily duties. Travel to training and meetings. On occasion, this position travels to other districts.
Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
Must be available to respond in person to after hours calls via call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
This position will be required to rotate after hours on-call and be able to respond, in person, to after hours calls to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
Will be required to work various hours for coverage, weather related issues and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.
Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials - Explain: Proximity to moving, mechanical parts, Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals., Exposure to electrical shock, and or working in high exposed places.

CDHS Selection Process
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.
