MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program as an electrician
- Valid Washington State driver's license
- Washington State license as a nonresidential maintenance electrician
- Six years of increasingly responsible experience as a journey-level electrician
- Minimum of six years experience in maintenance of facility electrical systems (commercial or industrial)
- Minimum of four years experience in new construction as an electrician
GENERAL INFORMATION: 8.0 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch period) for 260 days per year maintaining electrical services throughout the district. Position requires visual concentration, dexterity, and precision; lifting and carrying heavy objects; standing for prolonged periods; working at heights; wearing protective clothing; travel between work sites (vehicle provided by district). May be exposed to high-voltage panels and may be called for electrical emergencies during offshift hours. Maintenance/Electrician pay level begins at $43.84 for the 2025-2026 school year and is expected to increase for the 2026-2027 school year.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include and are not limited to):
- Sets priorities for completion of work orders; responds immediately to emergency needs
- Installs and/or moves power circuits, lighting systems, power cables; runs conduit and pulls wires; repairs main electrical service and feeders, locates underground electrical services
- Relocates lights, switches, and receptacles; replaces bulbs and lighting fixtures; troubleshoots electrical devices, evaluates electrical circuits, ensures proper grounding, selects appropriate equipment for electrical installations
- Orders electrical parts and supplies; communicates with district staff concerning electrical problems; works with other maintenance staff on projects, provides back up operation for Energy Management Control System (EMCS) operator
- Draws wiring diagrams; works with independent contractors and outside agencies
- Monitors, troubleshoots and repairs fire detection systems, coordinates with specialty contractors as needed
- Operates and maintains standby generators
- Conducts annual thermal camera scans and lighting surveys, coordinates battery, lamp, and ballast recycle
- Troubleshoots security systems and low voltage irrigation control systems
- Maintains man lifts
- Perform related duties as assigned
