Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrician II to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across county buildings and facilities.
This role is responsible for maintaining interior and exterior lighting systems, including internet-based lighting controls, repairing electrical infrastructure, and supporting generator maintenance and utility services. The Electrician II will troubleshoot electrical issues, work with elevated systems using ladders and lifts, and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols in sensitive facilities.
The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, experience working with commercial electrical systems, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience as an electrician with completion of an accredited apprenticeship program; or six (6) years of verifiable electrical work experience
- Possession of a valid State of Florida or local Journeyman Electrician License
- Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial or industrial environments
- Experience troubleshooting electrical issues and identifying hazards
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate work vehicles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Experience Preferences
- Possession of a Master Electrician License (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working in government, municipal, or large facility environments
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards
- Experience working with generators, lighting control systems, and utility services
- Experience working in secure or safety-sensitive environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
- Ability to work at heights using ladders and lifts
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions including heat, noise, and dust
Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
Education Preferences
- Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program
- Additional certifications or continuing education in electrical systems, safety, or controls
