    Description

    Position Summary Hopkins | Lacy, the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) Division of Branch, is searching for skilled Electricians. The Electrician is responsible for planning the layout, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. Any Electrician with 2 years of experience is encouraged to apply.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of material.
    • Provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly, hazardous, or unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications, local, and national electrical codes.
    • Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before the completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
    • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, and assembles and installs electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
    • Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by a helper.
    • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads using a knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
    • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
    • Assists in the mentoring, training, and growth of other employee-owners.
    • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels, fastening them in place with screws or bolts using hand tools and power tools.
    • Connects power cables to equipment such as electric ranges or motors and installs grounding leads.
    • Tests circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using various testing instruments.
    • Observes the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
    • May repair faulty equipment or systems.
    • Gathers and collates information and data.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrates critical thinking and reasoning skills.
    • High School diploma or equivalency.
    • High School level language, writing, speaking, listening, and mathematical skills.
    • 2 years of prior Electrician experience.
