Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Technician III to join our team in Sunnyvale, California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for rework, repair, prototype assembly, and testing of electronic devices. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Rework and Repair:
    • Assess the condition of returned units and confirm failure modes.
    • Run units through prescribed functional tests and perform failure analysis to determine root causes.
    • Disassemble units strategically, guided by SOPs, and perform visual inspections of related systems.
    • Perform component/module exchanges to isolate failures.
    • Document all work performed on each unit in a thorough and consistent manner.
  • Prototype Assembly:
    • Perform delicate assembly of devices following defined SOPs.
    • Conduct electrical assembly and testing using specialized electronic equipment.
    • Perform mechanical assembly testing using calibrated measurement tools.
    • Calibrate, test, and flash prototype electronic devices.
    • Assist the Technical Services team with assembly work.
  • General Skills:
    • Adapt to a daily changing statement of work.
    • Prioritize and balance multiple tasks to complete assignments.
    • Collaborate with design engineers for troubleshooting, clarification, and feedback.
    • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency.
    • Use text, photos, and videos to clearly convey assembly processes with attention to detail in spelling and grammar.
    • Seek feedback for continuous improvement.
  • SW and Data Calibration Specific Responsibilities:
    • Operate flash and calibration stations following SOPs for testing equipment.
    • Proficient with Linux, Windows, and Mac OS.
    • Familiarity with Python and Android Device Bridge (ADB).
    • Experience troubleshooting and testing prototypes and VR hardware.
    • Document and author assembly/operating instructions (SOPs).
    • Provide solutions for electrical and software troubleshooting and repair.
    • Assist with scaled prototype assembly and small pre-production units.

Qualifications:
  • Hand soldering skills with 0201 components required (01005 preferred), using microscopes and camera-based inspection equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and modifying circuit boards and small electronic equipment used in consumer electronics.
  • Familiarity with electronic analysis tools for systematic QC of electronic assemblies.
  • Experience troubleshooting and testing PCBA and FPC hardware.
  • Assist with scaled prototype assembly and small pre-production units, including electronic component addition/modification/replacement as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with computer programming.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Past prototype or assembly line experience, particularly in small electronics or devices.
  • Familiarity with OrCAD/Allegro and other EE hardware design tools.
