Electrical Project Manager / Estimator | Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Electrical Project Manager / Estimator to join our team. This dual-role position is ideal for a candidate with foundational knowledge of electrical installations who is eager to grow their expertise across both project management and estimating functions.

Key Responsibilities — Project Management

  • Support the hand-off of awarded projects from the Estimating team, including review of construction schedules, man-hours, material overviews, and GC correspondence
  • Serve as a point of contact for General Contractors and internal teams, managing project-related email traffic and coordination
  • Assist in the review and expediting of submittals for Lighting and Controls, Switchgear and Panels, Transformers, Load Centers, Metering, Disconnects, Generators, ATS's, UPS's, VFD's, Special Systems, Fire Alarm, and Security systems
  • Prepare General Materials Submittals including Conduit Raceway, Boxes, Fittings, Conductors and Cables, and Devices — learning to match contractual specifications for material type (CU vs. AL, PVC vs. EMT vs. GRC, Compression vs. Set Screw, hangers, etc.)
  • Monitor labor hours and burn rate; assist with man-hour submissions to Finance and Payroll
  • Coordinate material procurement aligned to schedule-driven completion dates; support tool, equipment, PPE, and rental equipment scheduling
  • Assist with monthly invoicing and draw submissions via Procore and/or AIA formats
  • Support Change Order processing from estimate through final submission, including scope letters, costing, and Procore input
  • Attend construction site meetings; contribute to weekly project status reporting at internal meetings
  • Assist with project close-out including As-Built documentation and demobilization

Key Responsibilities — Estimating

  • Analyze plan documents to determine conduit and wire lengths, means and methods, and material takeoffs in accordance with NEC/NFPA codes
  • Determine quantities, types, and costs of materials including Switchgear, Panels, ATS's, Generators, and Fixtures
  • Estimate labor requirements for projects
  • Assess potential project profitability to support sound bidding decisions
  • Assist in identifying solutions to improve project margins
  • Prepare and submit competitive bids in compliance with company guidelines
  • Help maintain updated cost databases to reflect current material and labor pricing
  • Exposure to or interest in Residential, Commercial, and Industrial project types

Working Environment

This role operates under the direct supervision of senior leadership. As we expand our engineering capabilities — including the production of Plan Documents for client-approved projects — the PM/Estimator will play a key supporting role in building and executing those projects from the ground up. This is a significant growth opportunity for the right candidate.

Education & Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus — but not required
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical installations and construction basics
  • Familiarity with NEC/NFPA codes and standards (training available for the right candidate)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plan documents, or willingness to learn
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a desire to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Computer proficiency and comfort learning estimating and project management software

Nice to Have

  • Experience with or exposure to Procore
  • CAD software or electrical design tool familiarity
  • Design/Build project experience
  • Valid electrician's license or equivalent field experience
  • Plan Doc Take-Off experience
