Lead and deliver commercial electrical projects for data centers from preconstruction through closeout. Responsible for project planning, budgeting, scheduling, coordination, quality, safety, and client satisfaction. Serves as the primary point of contact for owners, GCs, engineers, vendors, and field teams to ensure timely, compliant, and profitable execution of mission-critical electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage full project lifecycle for data center electrical scopes (power distribution, UPS/backup power, switchgear, transformers, generators, PDUs, busway, ATS, grounding, lighting, raceways, cabling).
  • Develop, maintain, and own project budgets, forecasts, cost-control reports, and profit targets; perform regular job-cost analysis and change order management.
  • Create and manage project schedules (including float and critical-path activities); coordinate with general contractor and MEP trades to maintain milestones and commissioning windows.
  • Lead preconstruction and planning activities: constructability reviews, value engineering, takeoffs, risk identification, and procurement strategy.
  • Oversee procurement and vendor management for long-lead and specialty equipment (switchgear, UPS, generators, STS, transformers); coordinate expediting, delivery, receiving, and storage.
  • Supervise project staffing: assign foremen/supervisors, review subcontractor performance, and ensure appropriate staffing levels and skills are on site.
  • Ensure project compliance with contract documents, design drawings, specifications, local codes, NFPA, IEEE, and data-center standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942 where applicable).
  • Coordinate commissioning, testing, and turnover activities with commissioning agents and owners (CAT, load banks, electrical system acceptance, ATS/STS testing).
  • Manage quality control and safety: enforce company/site safety programs, perform job walks, and address corrective actions.
  • Drive client communication and relationship management: weekly status updates, RFIs, submittal approvals, and dispute resolution.
  • Lead closeout: as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranty documentation, lien releases, and final billing.
  • Mentor and develop junior PMs and project staff; contribute to continuous improvement and lessons-learned reviews.

  • 5+ years project management experience on commercial Electrical projects.
  • Proven track record managing medium-to-large electrical budgets, schedules, and multi-discipline coordination in mission-critical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, UPS/backup power, switchgear, grounding, medium/low-voltage equipment, and data-center reliability requirements.
  • Experience with commissioning and testing procedures for data center electrical systems.
  • Proficient with project management and construction software (MS Project or Primavera, Procore, Viewpoint/Jonas/Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong financial acumen: budget development, forecasting, change order negotiation, and closeout.
