Electrical Project Manager - Commercial Construction

We are hiring an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead large commercial electrical construction projects throughout the Detroit area. Projects may include healthcare facilities, hospitals, universities, institutional buildings, and other complex commercial environments.

This role is ideal for someone who has managed electrical projects directly for an electrical contractor or self-performing electrical construction company. The right candidate understands how manpower planning, labor productivity, procurement, BIM/VDC coordination, cost control, and field execution impact overall project profitability.

This is a full project-ownership role. The Electrical Project Manager will manage projects from preconstruction turnover through final closeout while staying accountable for financial performance, scheduling, field production, client communication, safety, quality, and overall project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial electrical projects from preconstruction turnover through final closeout
• Develop project schedules, manpower plans, procurement strategies, and execution plans
• Coordinate Foremen, electricians, vendors, subcontractors, general contractors, and internal support teams
• Manage project budgets, billing, cost forecasts, committed expenses, labor performance, and profitability
• Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and construction schedules
• Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, material procurement, project documentation, and closeout requirements
• Partner with estimating and BIM/VDC teams to confirm scope, resolve coordination issues, and support field installation
• Lead project meetings and communicate clearly with clients, inspectors, general contractors, and company leadership
• Identify labor, material, schedule, coordination, and cost risks before they impact project performance
• Maintain accountability for safety, quality, schedule, budget, client satisfaction, and project results

• 5+ years of commercial electrical construction Project Management experience
• Direct experience working for an electrical contractor or self-performing electrical construction company
• Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, installation sequencing, manpower planning, and field production
• Proven ability to independently manage electrical projects from startup through closeout
• Experience managing project budgets, labor costs, forecasting, billing, procurement, and change orders
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project schedules
• Experience coordinating field leadership, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage complex projects while maintaining financial and operational accountability
• Experience with healthcare, hospital, university, institutional, or large commercial projects preferred
