If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a credit background check.SUMMARYUnder general supervision plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates the engineering work for a total project of moderate scope or for detailed phases of part of a major project.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManages all the engineering aspects of projects of moderate scope or detailed phases of major project effortsLeads or conducts performance, cost, and scheduling studies of varying size that are generally conventional in natureSupports operational areas through the application of standard and non-standard engineering techniques, practices, and proceduresCommunicates engineering ideas, recommendations, and evaluations to diverse internal groups in a working or conference type environmentRepresents the company's interests in engineering matters that may be varied and complex in natureInteracts with and provides broad knowledge technical support to other associatesApplies engineering expertise to improve or develop new standardsProvides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and company personnel on a regular, on-going basisCOMPETENCIESBroad knowledge and proven ability to apply engineering principles, practices and regulations to, and perform economic and decision analysis studies of issues in areas including, but not limited to, generation, transmission, distribution, system planning, financial and regulatory issues, asset utilization, and environmental controls and regulationsAbility to read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, ASME, NACE, etc.)Ability to translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for improving system reliabilityAbility to make informed repair decisions following company protocolsComfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345kV) electrical facilities and equipmentAbility to forecast budgetsDemonstrated leadership skills, self-motivation, and interpersonal skillsQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a college/university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET), plus four or more years of engineering experience or three or more with a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate or three or more with a Master's Degree in Engineering.Certificates, Licences, and Registrations: Fundamentals of Engineering certificate is preferred.Must possess current, legally valid driver's license and meet the Company's driving record requirements.Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, write speeches, and presentations; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and managers of the organization.Computer Skills: In-depth knowledge of personal computers including demonstrated proficiency with electrical engineering design programs; In depth knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.Analysis and Problem‑Solving Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with complex problems involving several concrete variables in complicated situations.Physical Demands: This position requires periods of frequent sitting, standing, walking, and exposure to outside elements, lifting (50 pounds or under), crouching, bending, climbing and working at various heights.
