Job Summary
ThePoint Layout Specialist is responsible for creating and managing accurate field layout points based on coordinated BIM models and construction drawings. This office-based role supports the Point Layout Coordinator and field layout operations by preparing point files used for robotic total station layout. The Layout Point Specialist ensures all points align with current models, fabrication packages, and project constraints while maintaining organization, accuracy, and timely delivery to field teams. Occasional tasks may include supporting Non-VDC Modeling and Detailing for Various Scopes.#miller #LI-JJ1
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Generate layout points for sleeves, anchors, walls, inserts, equipment, and other components from Revit models
Ensure all points are based on the latest coordinated model and construction documents
Export and format point files for use in robotic total station software
Collaborate with VDC Specialists and BIM teams to review constructability and field access in point placement
Participate in clash review or coordination meetings as needed
Maintain logs of issued points, revisions, and associated drawings
Use Smartsheet, drawing trackers, and ACC constraints logs to align point creation with schedule milestones
Coordinate with Field Layout Specialists to verify point usage and field compatibility
Respond to field requests for point modifications or additions
Follow standard operating procedures for point naming, numbering, and organization
Conduct QA reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of point files
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Proficient in Microsoft 365
Preferred:
2+ years in VDC, BIM Coordination, or a related drafting/modeling roll
Proficiency in Revit and ACC; experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam
A understanding of construction layouts and MEP systems
Familiarity with robotic total station point workflows a plus
Associate's degree in construction technology, Drafting, or related field
