Core Work & Responsibilities
junction box design/panel design
Heavy involvement in control system layout, part selection, testing, sizing breakers/fuses, proper derating, routing, etc.
Support production and field service as needed (travel ~10% or less).
Will start with CI projects to learn the machines before deeper project work.
Expected to help clean up numerous inherited bad designs; lots of redesign + sustaining work.
New major project: Brand new road mill requiring full electrical + software design.
Tools & Software
Uses: SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN (ideal; big advantage if they can move Astec to EPLAN).
Open to candidates who use different electrical CAD tools if fundamentals are strong.
Experience & Must Haves
5+ years experience (mid tier or higher).
Must understand industrial electrical systems beyond circuit boards - plant automation, robotics, machinery are all relevant.
Must have 24V DC experience (motors, pumps, actuators, sensors).
One hardware hire MUST have AC power experience (not necessarily VFD programming, but must know how to design for AC loads).
Strong attention to detail and disciplined engineering approach.
4 year engineering degree required (from a university - not UTC).
