Overview Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Power Supply Design Engineer to join our design team and support the growing demand for advanced power conversion circuit card designs. This role involves applying expertise in designing low- and high-voltage, high-frequency switch-mode power supplies while collaborating with senior power supply engineers and cross-disciplinary teams. The engineer will work closely with other disciplines to ensure that power supply designs meet stringent requirements for power, thermal management, emissions, and safety in alignment with overall system specifications.Responsibilities Design and develop AC/DC and DC/DC power convertersDevelop power distribution architecturesDesign and analyze EMI filtersAnalyze analog/power circuits for stability, efficiency, power draw, and in-rush characteristicsWrite specifications and test approaches for power supply circuit designsSelect components for discrete converter designs or modules for system integrationCreate schematics for analog/power circuits and support PCB designConduct and participate in peer design reviews, design verification testing, and transition designs into productionPerform analog and power testing in laboratory environments for development components and circuit cardsCollaborate with digital, RF, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure overall project performanceQualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and 9+ years of relevant experience, ORGraduate Degree with 7+ years of related experience, ORIn lieu of a degree, 12+ years of prior related experienceHands-on experience with power conversion design, power analysis, analog circuit simulation, and control loop stabilizationKnowledge of high-frequency magnetics design, development, and manufacturingProven expertise in AC/DC and DC/DC converter design, build, and testingStrong power analysis skills using MathCad, Excel, or similar toolsExperience with electrical simulation tools such as SIMPLIS or SPICEProficiency with CAD tools (preferably Mentor Graphics) for schematic entry and layoutFamiliarity with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-1399, and MIL-STD-461 standards (a plus)Experience with common laboratory equipmentAbility to obtain a U.S. DoD security clearance (preferred)Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VisioPrior design experience in military or ruggedized industry applicationsBenefits Cornerstone Defense offers a comprehensive list of benefits, designed to give employees and their families several options to choose from when selecting benefits that best fit their needs.
