Kforce has a client that is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Plano, TX. Overview: We are seeking Electrical Engineers to support the design and integration of medium-voltage power distribution systems for mission-critical and industrial applications. This is an opportunity to join a growing engineering team supporting projects across data centers, energy, utilities, industrial facilities, and other critical infrastructure environments. In this role, you will contribute to power system architecture, equipment integration, protection strategies, and electrical distribution designs while collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and project teams. Responsibilities:
  • Design medium-voltage power distribution systems and related electrical infrastructure
  • Develop power system architectures for industrial and mission-critical applications
  • Specify and integrate MV equipment, switchgear, protective relays, and associated components
  • Perform short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash studies
  • Develop grounding and protection schemes
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and codes
  • Partner with controls, manufacturing, procurement, and project teams throughout project execution
  • Support technical reviews, documentation development, and customer deliverables

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or power distribution design
  • Experience with medium-voltage equipment (5kV-35kV), switchgear, and protective relaying
  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems and equipment integration
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE C37, IEEE 1584, and UL switchgear/switchboard standards
  • Experience conducting short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Arc-resistant MV switchgear experience (IEEE C37.20.7)
  • Data center power infrastructure experience
  • Experience with emergency power systems and standby generation
  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) or renewable energy integration experience
  • Utility interconnection and coordination experience
  • EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience supporting industrial, utility, mining, oil and gas, or mission-critical facilities

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
