The Service Tooling Engineering team is responsible for the design to production of custom service and commissioning tooling hardware to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Telsa's Energy storage and charging solutions. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing this evolving energy industry forward by designing mechatronic battery lift systems, battery charge equipment user interfacing, Low voltage communication protocols, communication equipment, circuits to ensure user safety, signal conditioning, and much more.

  • Take existing firmware/hardware from "it works on my bench" to "field techs in 50+ countries depend on it daily." You'll own reliability, not just features

  • Define system architecture, prototype fast, iterate faster, and drive full production releases

  • Hardware bring-up, component validation, and writing firmware that controls real power systems (ADC, PWM for battery management and power controls)

  • Build EOL test fixtures, manufacturing procedures, and field tools that eliminate human error

  • Travel to Gigafactories, commissioning sites, and containment events (10-15%)

  • 2-3+ years reading and creating electrical schematics (PCBA + wiring harnesses) - know what good PCB layout looks like and why it matters

  • Take customer feedback, fixe the pain points, and enhanced the user experience. Bonus: document designs and write specs others can follow

  • Fluent in hardware buses: CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C- ability to debug them all with a logic analyzer

  • Knowledable in MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, and gate drivers

  • Understand DSPs, microcontrollers, programmable logic -architect firmware, integrate peripherals, and ship production code

  • Exceptional knowledge of STM32CubeIDE, Git workflows, and proper FW release management (branching strategies, version control, CI/CD for embedded)

Expected Compensation

$91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
