OverviewThis role is responsible for the validation and certification of commercial chiller systems. The position focuses on electrical system design evaluation, instrumentation, test execution, data analysis, and compliance with applicable industry standards. Engineers will work closely with mechanical engineers, lab technicians, and quality teams to ensure chiller performance, safety, and reliability.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain all electrical systems fully functional to test HVAC systems (water‑cooled and air‑cooled chillers)Plan, execute, and support electrical testing of commercial chillers, including air‑cooled and water‑cooled systemsTroubleshoot control circuits and low‑voltage wiring on water‑cooled and air‑cooled chillersDevelop and review electrical test procedures, wiring diagrams, and control schematicsSet up and validate test instrumentation for voltage, current, power, harmonic distortion, and control signalsTroubleshoot electrical, controls, and communication issues during system testingAnalyze test data and prepare technical reports documenting results, issues, and corrective actionsSupport compliance testing to applicable standards (e.g., UL, IEC, AHRI, ASHRAE)Collaborate with design engineering teams to identify root causes and recommend design improvementsSupport factory acceptance testing (FAT), qualification testing, and reliability testingEnsure testing activities comply with lab safety procedures and electrical safety requirementsProvide technical support during audits, certifications, and customer witness testingRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldIndividual contributor, on the job experience in electrical testing, validation, or product development (HVAC or industrial equipment preferred)Strong understanding of three‑phase power systems, motor drives, starters, and VFDsExperience with electrical test equipment (power analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, data acquisition systems)Knowledge of control systems, PLCs, sensors, and communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, CAN, etc.)Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagramsStrong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skillsProficiency in technical documentation and test reportingFamiliarity with lab safety standards and electrical codes (NFPA 70 / NEC)Preferred QualificationsExperience with commercial chillers, large HVAC equipment, or refrigeration systemsFamiliarity with industry standards such as ASHRAE 90.1, AHRI 550/590, UL 1995, IEC 60335Experience working in an engineering laboratory or test environmentKnowledge of energy efficiency testing and performance certificationExperience with automated test systems and data analysis tools (LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or similar)Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certificationPrimarily laboratory‑based role with exposure to high‑voltage equipment and rotating machineryOccasional extended hours during test execution or customer witness testingStrict adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements#J-18808-Ljbffr
