Electrical Designer (Senior / Principal)

Senior Electrical Designer: $82 - $98/hour
Principal Electrical Designer: $86 - $103/hour

Job Description

Seeking experienced Electrical Designers to support large-scale EPC nuclear and industrial projects in Greenville, SC. These positions will support complex electrical design activities in a multi-discipline environment utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools. Openings are available at both the Senior and Principal levels depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and check electrical designs utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools
  • Coordinate technical issues with engineering disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients
  • Execute work in compliance with project quality requirements, procedures, schedules, and scope baselines
  • Perform electrical material take-offs, analysis, and tabulations
  • Provide technical support for procurement activities and vendor submittal reviews
  • Support construction administration activities including RFIs and field changes
  • Walk down field systems, interpret field direction, and develop design details
  • Create new drawings and modify existing drawings
  • Perform electrical design calculations including:
    • Lighting calculations
    • Raceway sizing
    • Wire sizing
    • Voltage drop calculations
    • Cable pulling calculations
    • Panel board and breaker sizing
    • Junction box sizing
  • Support and mentor junior designers as applicable
  • Perform field assistance and coordination activities


Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Associate degree in a related technical field
  • Senior level requires 10+ years of related experience
  • Principal level requires 15+ years of related experience
  • Background in electrical design, drafting, instrumentation and controls, or communications systems
  • Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation
  • Proficiency with Intergraph Smart3D (S3D)
  • Experience executing EPC projects in industrial or nuclear environments
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-discipline engineering environment
  • Ability to perform field walkdowns with minimal supervision
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • DOE or nuclear project experience
  • Experience supporting projects under ASME NQA-1 requirements
  • Practical field experience
  • Experience supporting EPC projects for DOE or other federal agencies
  • Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology facilities
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • SmartPlant Electrical
    • SmartPlant Review
    • Grounding and earthing systems
    • Lighting systems
    • Wiring and motors
    • Conduit fill and sizing
    • Panelboards
    • Hazardous locations
