Oxford Solutions is working with a client seeking an Electrical Commissioning Specialist.
Project site located in the Western New York region. This is a travel-based contract role supporting a data center environment, and candidates do not need to be local as long as they are comfortable with frequent onsite travel.
The Electrical Commissioning Specialist will work independently on assigned scopes while collaborating with a project team to support successful commissioning execution.
Responsibilities
- Execute electrical commissioning activities in the field for assigned project scopes
- Support inspection, testing, startup, and validation of electrical systems and related equipment
- Assist with commissioning of power distribution, electrical equipment, controls, and supporting infrastructure
- Identify, document, and communicate deficiencies, field issues, and commissioning progress
- Provide daily updates to the Electrical Lead regarding assigned work and open items
- Review checklists, test documentation, commissioning records, and project closeout materials for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues during commissioning activities
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, vendors, and other technical personnel during testing and acceptance activities
- Follow all site safety requirements, electrical safety procedures, and work practices
- Support owner acceptance activities and critical testing milestones as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another technical field preferred
- 6+ years of relevant technical experience in electrical commissioning, startup, field operations, maintenance, electrical systems testing, power distribution, or technical troubleshooting
- Direct commissioning experience preferred
- Military technical backgrounds a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
- NFPA 70E Qualified Electrical Worker required, or ability to complete during onboarding
- OSHA 10 Construction certification required, or ability to complete during onboarding
- Candidates should be comfortable with up to 65% travel and occasional extended hours, nights, or weekends during critical testing milestones.
