Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director, you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination
and evaluation of the Early Learning Center operations. The ELC District Director directly supervises the ELC
directors and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and
applicable law.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and two years of experience as a
    childcare/development director.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • The director must have experience and knowledge of Ohio Department of Job and Families Childcare
    licensing regulations along with Step-Up to Quality.
  • The director must maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, Recognition and Prevention of Child Abuse, and
    Communicable Disease.
  • An understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior and development. and specific knowledge in
    developmentally appropriate practices.
Essential Functions
  • Assist Early Learning Center Directors in the collection of fees and co-pays from families- assist families in getting set up for the Automatic Payment System.
  • Ensure all paperwork is thoroughly reviewed and discrepancies are investigated and rectified.
  • Ensure Early Learning Center Directors maintain compliance with DCY licensing standards.
  • Coordinate, supervise and assist individuals that handle the Step Up to Quality initiative for each Early Learning center.
  • Ensure that Early Learning Center directors hire and supervise teachers and teachers' assistants and other staff.
  • Participate in the hiring and vetting process for hiring qualified Early Learning Center directors.
  • Ensure that Early Learning Center directors receive ongoing support, guidance and training, developing them and growing them within their role to ensure quality progression and development of management staff.
  • Observe and provide feedback to Early Learning Center directors and teaching staff on a regular basis.
  • Train and assist Early Learning Center directors in the budget development process.
  • Meet or exceed budget expectations.
  • Assist the branch with raising scholarship contributions.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with employees and partnering departments for Early Learning Center operations.
  • Work with community agencies to provide services for families and children.
  • Work with Early Learning Center directors to maintain association Total Quality Management Standards as written for Childcare programs.
  • Assist Early Learning Center directors in coordination of special needs accommodation plans for children with disabilities with the lead teachers and the parents.
  • Ensure Early Learning Center directors review lesson plans, receive training on lesson plan and curriculum implementation in the classroom. Ensure that the provided curriculum is aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards.
  • Attend meetings as scheduled for center development including new Early Learning Center locations in discovery.
  • In cooperation with the directors, providing guidance and direction assists in developing staff development plans.
  • Assist Early Learning Center directors with center enrollment and maintain 90 - 100% enrollment.
  • Aid mentors and train staff in providing a developmentally appropriate education strategy and care for children.
  • Follow up with Early Learning Center directors to ensure we are providing on time and accurate information concerning the food program and the public fund invoicing to childcare corporate contract coordinator.
  • Be visible in the community for recruitment purposes.
  • Share in Findlay YMCA larger program functions when requested.
  • Assist Early Learning Center directors in enrolling all families, assuring that paperwork and proper procedures are followed for enrolling all children.
  • Monitor directors in summer planning of field trips and ensure quality summer programs and lesson plans are being offered to the children. This includes involvement in Findlay YMCA Summer Camp curriculum and structure.
  • Ensure Early Learning Center directors follow all policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and review each site's daily operation and make changes, if necessary, such as schedule modifications, change of bus routes, combining classrooms, any other items that may have a financial impact on the center budget. Ensuring that guidance and training are provided to develop Early Learning Center directors understanding of budgetary requirements of modifying various aspects of daily operation to manage the budget effectively.
