Responsibilities:
- Verify physician's order for correctness and completeness.
- Follow relevant infection control procedures (handwashing, gloves, gowns, mask, etc.).
- Confirm patient identification from wristband.
- Prepare relevant equipment and supplies.
- Performs electrocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients. Respond to "Stat" EKG within 5 minutes of receiving call
- Performs 24 hour Holter Monitors by connecting portable recorder to patient and uses computerized scanning system to generate the report for interpretation by a Cardiologist.
- Assist physicians with Graded Exercise Test following established protocols, operates equipment, and preps patient for the procedure.
- Possesses the ability to recognize and communicate critical findings per department protocol.
- Verbally discuss procedure with patient/guardian to alleviate fears and anxiety.
- Supports timely throughput to minimize delays in care.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide competent patient care to the following patient populations: Neonate, Infant and Toddler, Children, Adolescents, Adults, and Older Adults.
- Utilize and maintain the EKG management system, storing procedures and preparing procedures for Physician interpretation.
- Make sure all charges are completed daily and reflect procedure performed.
- Explain purpose and goals of procedure to patient.
- Keeps all equipment stocked, clean, and in good working order.
- Clean and monitors equipment and reports equipment failure problems to supervisor.
- Ensure appropriate communication with co-workers and Hospital Staff
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months of EKG or other allied health experience. Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
