Job Summary
The EHS Technician supports environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene programs by assisting with training, audits, reporting, compliance activities, investigations, hazardous waste management, and environmental projects. This role helps maintain a safe workplace, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports plant environmental and safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with accident and incident investigations.
- Maintain environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene records and files.
- Support the plant safety committee.
- Assist in preparing EHS presentations and training materials.
- Monitor environmental, health, and safety regulations and recommend policy updates.
- Conduct plant safety and environmental audits and recommend corrective actions.
- Review equipment installations and process modifications for EHS compliance.
- Maintain the plant fire protection system.
- Assist with maintaining the EH&S database.
- Support hazardous waste management, including pickups, disposal, and shipment preparation.
- Conduct EHS training, including Lockout/Tagout and environmental compliance training.
- Monitor contractor compliance with EHS regulations.
- Prepare environmental reports in a timely manner.
- Support environmental projects and recycling initiatives.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with environmental permits.
- Perform ergonomic evaluations and assessments.
- Work with management to reduce accidents, injuries, and property damage.
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 3 years of experience with Abbott or in an Environmental, Health & Safety role.
- Experience with spreadsheets and basic algebra.
- Computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards including MIOSHA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and MDEQ.
- Background with a Fire Department or Rescue Squad is preferred
