Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
The position is responsible for routine Environmental and Health & Safety (EHS) compliance management at two electric power generation facilities in Central Texas.
Responsibilities:
• Performs Title V, EDR, DMR, EE/DT, TIER II, AEI, and other reporting as necessary. • Provides oversight of major programs, which can include Safety for General Industry, Air & Water/Wastewater compliance, Waste Management, PSM/RMP, DOT, and EPCRA. • Partners with operations to build employee engagement through establishment of goals, planning, and personal engagement. • Drives EHS risk recognition and mitigation by assessing and communicating physical, operational, and regulatory risks related to EHS matters. • Supports continuous learning through identification of EHS best practices and timely and relevant communications. • Serves as a catalyst for continuous improvement through EHS assessments, event, and trend analyses. • Tracks EHS compliance status, and ensures timely and accurate completion of task requirements. • Reviews collection and recordkeeping practices related to EHS matters. • Compiles and submits internal and external reports as specified by EHS requirements. • Makes decisions regarding own work, often in ambiguous situations; makes recommendations regarding own function/discipline. • Works on problems of moderate complexity. • Uses independent judgment within defined policies and practices. • Interprets guidelines; selects methods, techniques, and analytical approach.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering or Science, Master's degree preferred. Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of 3+ years' experience (4+ preferred) in EHS, preferably in the power generation industry.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to EHS.
Ability to travel overnight ~10% of time between regional plants and for meetings & training.
Professional EHS certification (e.g., CSP, CHMM, CIH, REM, etc.) is preferred.
