Job Summary: The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Site Safety Specialist will develop, manage, and audit safety protocols to ensure operational safety and compliance with company EHS programs, all OSHA and EPA regulations to mitigate risk for the organization, prevent injuries, and ensure both the health and safety of all employees and contractors onsite. Local candidates only, no relocation offered.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Promote a proactive safety culture, lead site safety strategy to prevent injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, property damage, and ensure safe working environment.
  • Oversee all aspects of site-level safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, the law, and company policy.
  • Conduct training and behavior-based safety initiatives to educate employees and contractors performing work onsite and consistently promote clear understanding and competency related to safe work practices.
  • Ensure contractor safety compliance and qualification standards.
  • Track and utilize environmental and safety data analytics to identify trends and use EHS key performance indicators to accurately maintain safety data and records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including OSHA process safety management (PSM).
  • Support operational leadership in integrating safety into daily production activities.
  • Manage and oversee emergency response planning, drills and exercises, and post-incident regulatory notifications.
  • Drive process improvement involving all facets of the daily chemical manufacturing processes to ensure safety programs, processes, and procedures keep pace with the ever-changing needs of the business.
  • Investigate and document work-related incidents, accidents, near misses, and ensure both corrective and preventative measures are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct process hazard analysis and inspections, audit safety programs to ensure compliance, perform root cause analysis, manage emergency response best practices to mitigate risk
  • Consistently report and escalate any environmental, health, and safety related issues as needed to site management.
  • Partner closely with site leadership to strengthen operational excellence in safety and workforce protection.
What We Require:
  • Strong coaching and training skills to educate and motivate colleagues to perform work safely and follow safety best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt easily in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
  • Ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgement with respect to safety-related matters of significance. 
  • Must be able to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize at the same time is key.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams, and safety-related software.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational health, chemical/mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Five years or more of direct safety experience working in chemical or industrial manufacturing work environment.
  • Experience with incident investigations, hazard assessments, and safety program implementation.
  • Experience evaluating and interpreting OSHA PSM, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas law, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Knowledge of industry safety work rules, relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is highly valued.
