PRIMARY FUNCTION
Provide strategic EHS leadership to Viking Pump Industrial locations in the role of an EHS strategic partner. This role has oversight at Viking Pump for development of EHS policies and programs, the implementation of solutions that will keep our employees safe, prevent interruption of business operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive a sustainable safety culture across the organization.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development of organizational EHS short-term and long-term strategies to deliver on continuous EHS performance and program improvements. This includes recommendation on metric tracking, safety initiatives, employee engagement, and effective communication strategies.
- Responsible for overall compliance associated with EHS metrics and reporting tools. This includes reporting compliance for international locations: Canada, Ireland, and the UK.
- Ensure the business complies with federal, state, and local safety regulations by keeping abreast of existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, interpreting standards, enforcing adherence to regulation, and advising management on needed actions.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal authorities on regulatory topics to ensure the facility operates under the proper permits.
- Lead risk assessment, change management, and business continuity planning.
- Identify and monitor key performance metrics and indicators to ensure both process and continuous improvement.
- Educate engineering, maintenance, and production in conducting and updating assessments and associated improvements.
- Lead the EHS team and facilitate the development of team members.
- Conduct periodic EHS compliance audits of operations and prepare associated corrective action plans; provide guidance and support in connection with audit findings and assist in tracking audit findings to resolution.
- Provide periodic written reports on EHS results and EHS updates to management to apprise leaders of progress and any critical issues.
- Identify, implement, and manage appropriate environmental and sustainability programs in alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
- Maintain the ISO-14001 Environmental Management System.
- Evaluate and implement energy efficiency projects.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree in an Environmental, Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EHS Programs including incident investigation, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, material handling safety, machine guarding, hazardous waste, and for air and wastewater permits.
- Minimum five to seven years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a Union environment, and with 3 years direct supervisory experience.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associated Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or other EHS related certification preferred.
- Proactive critical thinking and problem solving.
- Ability to influence and create followership with others.
- Strong initiative, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization, enlisting the needed cooperation for successful implementation of programs and other measures needed to meet performance standards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
