PITCO FOODS ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY ASSISTANT MANAGER

PITCO Foods is a large independent food service distributor in Northern California. Based in San Jose, CA, PITCO also has distribution centers in Brisbane, San Leandro, and Sacramento.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Assistant Manager supports the EHS Manager and team in the development, implementation, and administration of company-wide safety and environmental programs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment across all PITCO Foods facilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Assist in the maintenance and updating of safety documentation, including SOPs, policies, and procedures.
• Support safety inspections of equipment, machinery, and mechanical safety guards.
• Assist in the delivery of safety training programs, including new or updated SOPs and policies.
• Support the implementation and administration of safety programs, including but not limited to: • Hazard Communication (HazCom) • Right-to-Know • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) • Fall Protection • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) • Environmental compliance programs
• Assist with work-related injury investigations, ensuring corrective actions are identified, documented, and completed in a timely manner.
• Conduct facility walkthroughs and inspections, including production and warehouse areas, to monitor hazards, equipment conditions, temperature, noise levels, and employee work practices.
• Perform data entry and recordkeeping to maintain accurate compliance and safety documentation.
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure alignment with EHS policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA and Federal OSHA regulations, safety programs, and basic environmental regulations (EPA).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, customers, and vendors.

EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in Environmental Health & Safety or a related role.
