Job Summary
The EHR Data Integrity Specialist supports the integrity and reliability of clinical information within the electronic health record (EHR) by monitoring data and document workflows, identifying unreconciled or misrouted items, and coordinating timely escalation to appropriate licensed clinical staff. This role focuses on ensuring visibility, accountability, and process consistency across clinical data workflows.
This position does not perform clinical review, interpretation, or reconciliation of results. Instead, it serves as an operational safeguard to ensure that clinical data is properly routed, tracked, and addressed according to established protocols.
Qualifications / Requirements
Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Health Information Management, or related field OR equivalent healthcare operations experience
2+ years of experience working within an EHR in a healthcare setting. (e-Clinical Works)
Strong understanding of clinical workflows related to labs, imaging, referrals, and documentation
High attention to detail with strong organizational and follow-through skills
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clinical and non-clinical staff
Passionate about providing good care for our patients
Experience in an FQHC or community health setting
Experience working with document management, interfaces, or health information exchange
Prior involvement in audits, quality improvement, or compliance activities
Experience creating or updating SOPs or workflow documentation
Essential Functions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor EHR queues, reports, and dashboards related to:
Unreconciled lab and imaging results
Unmatched or misrouted documents (e.g., scanned records, faxes)
Unsigned or unreviewed orders and results
Workflow or interface exceptions
Track aging, trends, and recurring issues related to clinical data workflows
Route items to the appropriate licensed clinical staff or department for review and reconciliation
Escalate overdue or high-risk items according to established SOPs
Maintain documentation of issues, resolutions, and process gaps
Collaborate with Operations, IT, and Clinical leadership to identify root causes and workflow improvements
Assist with the development and maintenance of SOPs related to document and results management
Support audits, quality initiatives, and compliance reviews by providing reports, tracking data, and process documentation
Provide non-clinical guidance to staff regarding proper workflow for document and results handling
Participate in testing and validation of EHR workflow changes as assigned
