Job Title: EDUCATORS IN TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

Supervised by/Reports to: Director of Career Technical Education

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Goals:

  1. To implement an educational program for the designated grade level and career technical subject area using the Alabama Course of Study for the Education and Training Cluster.

  2. To prepare high school students for postsecondary education pathways and careers in education, including elementary, middle, secondary, special education, career and technical education, educational leadership, and related educational professions.

  3. To serve as an integral part of the school system by facilitating instruction, credential attainment, dual enrollment opportunities, work-based learning experiences, and career readiness experiences aligned to Alabama CTE standards and workforce needs.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Alabama Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching certificate in Education and Training or eligibility to obtain certification through the Alabama State Department of Education.

  2. Meet Alabama Occupational Proficiency requirements for Education and Training, including required degree and/or documented teaching or occupational experience as outlined by ALSDE.

  3. Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred.

  4. Experience in educational settings, including elementary, middle, secondary, postsecondary, or related educational environments preferred.

  5. Ability to meet and maintain compliance with Alabama State Department of Education Career Technical Education standards, including Occupational Proficiency requirements and TAPE accountability measures.

  6. Ability to facilitate and/or support student attainment of approved Career Readiness Indicators (CRI) and postsecondary opportunities aligned to the program, including ETS Praxis Core Academic Skills, Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT), Google Educator certifications, dual enrollment coursework, and other ALSDE-approved credentials.

  7. Ability to develop and implement curriculum aligned to the Alabama Course of Study for Education and Training.

  8. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.

  9. Effective interpersonal skills, with emphasis on collaboration with students, faculty, parents, educational partners, and community stakeholders.

  10. Ability to use technology to plan and provide instruction, manage student data, and maintain required documentation.

  11. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.

  12. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

  13. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.

  2. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Education and Training Career Cluster with emphasis in Educators in Training.

  3. Implements the Alabama Course of Study for Educators in Training and ensures program compliance with ALSDE and TAPE requirements.

  4. Develops and maintains a classroom laboratory environment that models effective instructional practices and professional educational settings.

  5. Instructs students in educational foundations, pedagogy, classroom management, instructional strategies, assessment practices, educational technology, professionalism, and leadership.

  6. Teaches lesson planning, instructional design, classroom management techniques, communication skills, educational leadership, and learner engagement strategies.

  7. Facilitates and supervises student participation in classroom observations, job shadowing, internships, work-based learning experiences, and field experiences in accordance with state and district guidelines.

  8. Provides opportunities for students to explore careers in education and related professions through experiential learning activities and partnerships with educational institutions.

  9. Prepares students for credentialing assessments and postsecondary opportunities aligned to approved Career Readiness Indicators.

  10. Establishes and maintains an active Career Technical Advisory Committee in accordance with ALSDE and TAPE guidelines.

  11. Maintains partnerships with local schools, colleges, universities, educational agencies, and community organizations to support internships, observations, dual enrollment, and workforce alignment.

  12. Provides instruction in workplace skills including punctuality, professionalism, communication, leadership, ethics, collaboration, and problem solving.

  13. Creates long-range instructional plans aligned with state curriculum priorities and student career goals.

  14. Uses ongoing assessment, traditional and alternative, to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.

  15. Interprets and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation.

  16. Administers standardized tests and credentialing assessments in accordance with state and district procedures.

  17. Maintains accurate records of student credential attainment, internship hours, work-based learning participation, dual enrollment participation, and required program documentation.

  18. Communicates high learning expectations for all students and promotes postsecondary readiness.

  19. Sponsors and supports Career and Technical Student Organization activities, including FCCLA and other approved student leadership organizations aligned with the Education and Training program.

  20. Engages in continuous professional growth and required ALSDE professional learning.

  21. Supports school improvement initiatives through active participation in school activities, events, ceremonies, services, and programs.

  22. Maintains confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.

  23. Promotes positive relationships among students, parents, educational partners, and community stakeholders.

  24. Maintains program equipment, instructional resources, technology, and facilities in a safe and effective manner.

  25. Seeks and maintains business and industry partnerships that enhance student learning and career preparation opportunities.

  26. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Career Technical Education.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: Salary to be established by The Limestone County School's District Salary Schedule.
