About the Agency: The Idaho Division of Career Technical Education (IDCTE) provides administration, leadership, and coordination for secondary and post-secondary programs in career technical education (CTE) across the state of Idaho. With a customer-service focus, the Division leads Idaho's efforts to prepare youth and adults for high-skill, in-demand careers.
Summary: IDCTE is seeking a collaborative and experienced education leader to serve as the Educator Preparation Assistant Director. This position supports the Chief Educator Officer by leading the implementation and coordination of statewide educator preparation, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
The Assistant Director provides operational leadership for educator services programs, supervises professional staff, and ensures consistent and effective implementation of initiatives aligned with agency priorities. This role exercises independent judgment in program implementation, staff supervision, and operational decision-making, while elevating policy, budget, and strategic decisions to division leadership. This position supervises assigned professional staff and reports directly to the Chief Educator Officer.
The ideal candidate is organized, solution-oriented, and capable of managing complex initiatives with minimal supervision while collaboratively supporting division leadership. Strong communication, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Some in-state and out-of-state travel may be required. This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday through Friday. Remote work is not available.
Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Operational Support
- Lead the operational planning, coordination, and implementation of educator services initiatives, including onboarding programs, educator training, and leadership development efforts
- Support statewide leadership efforts by ensuring programs are implemented with consistency, quality, and alignment to agency priorities
- Supervise and support assigned professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and workload alignment
- Participate in division leadership teams, workgroups, and cross-functional initiatives
Educator Preparation and Pipeline Development
- Coordinate and support statewide efforts to recruit, prepare, support, and retain CTE educators
- Support oversight of educator preparation programs, including program monitoring, review processes, and continuous improvement efforts
- Facilitate alignment between educator preparation pathways, certification requirements, and workforce needs
- Maintain and support systems related to educator credentialing, badging, and microcredentialing
Professional Learning and Educator Support
- Support the design and delivery of high-quality professional learning for CTE educators and administrators
- Lead implementation of onboarding and training pathways for new educators across secondary and postsecondary systems
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure professional development offerings are relevant, accessible, and impactful
- Develop and maintain resources, tools, and instructional supports for educators statewide
Systems, Data, and Continuous Improvement
- Use data to monitor program effectiveness, identify trends, and inform continuous improvement efforts
- Prepare reports and summaries to support internal decision-making and external reporting
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, guidance, and program documentation
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and program effectiveness
Fiscal and Administrative Coordination
- Support budget planning, monitoring, and resource allocation for educator services programs
- Ensure alignment with state guidelines, grant requirements, and agency policies
- Oversee assigned contracts, agreements, and vendor relationships to ensure accountability and compliance
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a key point of coordination with internal teams and external partners, including school districts, post-secondary institutions, and workforce stakeholders
- Support communication of program expectations, updates, and outcomes
- Assist with planning and implementation of statewide events, including conferences and regional training
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in education, workforce development, career technical education (CTE), or a related field
- Typically gained by at least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in secondary education, post-secondary education, workforce development, or CTE programs.
- Experience in leadership or supervisory role, including staff management and performance development
- Typically gained by experience supervising professional or technical staff, including assigning work, providing coaching and feedback, and conducting performance evaluations in an educational or organizational setting.
- Experience supporting or leading educator preparation, professional development, or training programs
- Typically gained by experience designing, coordinating, delivering, or overseeing professional learning, educator preparation programs, onboarding initiatives, or training for adult learners.
- Experience managing projects or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
- Typically gained by experience leading or coordinating projects or programs that require planning, implementation, timeline management, and collaboration across teams, agencies, or partner organizations.
- Knowledge of secondary and/or post-secondary education systems, including CTE programs and pathways
- Typically gained by experience working within or alongside secondary schools, post-secondary institutions, CTE programs, or statewide education or workforce initiatives.
- Experience applying policies, procedures, or regulatory requirements
- Typically gained by experience interpreting and applying policies, administrative rules, or regulatory requirements to ensure compliance in an educational, governmental, or organizational setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Typically gained by experience coordinating programs, facilitating meetings or trainings, communicating complex information, and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders such as educators, administrators, workforce partners, or community organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in education, career technical education, workforce development, or related field Idaho
- CTE Administrator Certificate or ability to obtain one
- Typically gained by meeting Idaho certification requirements for CTE administrators, including required education, experience, and professional preparation.
- Experience working with educator preparation programs or certification systems
- Experience working with postsecondary institutions, workforce partners, or industry
- Experience using data to inform program improvement and decision-making
- Experience using technology tools and digital systems, such as Artificial Intelligence, to improve workflow efficiency, communication, or project management
