Summary
Job Summary
Assesses plans, organizes, implements and evaluates performance improvement (PI) activities and ensures that staff education is completed in relation to opportunities identified through PI activities conducted in assigned areas. In addition, fulfills responsibilities of an RN/Paramedic and functions as Performance Improvement liaison for area(s) of responsibility. Functions as the education liaison as needed to fulfill departmental needs, updates and reviews all , educational needs and reviews the current standards of practice to ensure the standards of care are maintained in the departmental setting. Participates and/or assists as an educational planner for CNE through possession of authority, accountability and responsibility of the CNE program planning in collaboration with nursing support services. Serves as an internal consultant and facilitator to Performance Improvement Program(s) and related activities, and represents the service in organizational Performance Improvement Program(s).

Work Experience
1. Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in specialty care area is required.
2. Experience in quality improvement (i.e., development and/or implementation of performance improvement activities) or related activities is highly preferred.
3. Experience as an Educator or in performance improvement is preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
1. Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
2. Current BLS training is required.
3. Current ACLS training is required to be obtained within 6 months of being in the position for the following areas: Ambulatory Surgical Unit, Antepartum, Cath Lab/IR, CVICU, Echo/Stress, Electrophysiology, Emergency Dept., Endoscopy Pre-Assessment, Endoscopy, ICU, Medical Surigcal ICU, Labor & Delivery, Neuro ICU, Observation Unit, Pre-operative, Operating Room, PACU (Recovery), Surgical/Telemetry, Telemetry and Vascular Access.
4. Current PALS is required or obtained within 6 months of being in the position for the following areas: Ambulatory Surgical Unit, Cath Lab/IR, Emergency Dept., Electrophysiology, Endoscopy Pre-Assessment, Endoscopy, Operating Room, Pre-operative, and PACU (Recovery).
5. Current NRP is required or obtained within 6 months of being in the position for the following areas: Antepartum, Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby and Newborn Nursery.
6. Nursing Professional Development certification or national nursing certification for specific unit is required to be obtained within 3 years of being in the position.
Education and Training
Bachelor degree in Nursing is required.
