Position Overview:
The Clinton Community School District is seeking a dedicated and organized Educational Support Assistant to serve our Junior/Senior High School. This individual should be enthusiastic about education, technology, and student engagement. The position supports three key areas: library services, in-school suspension supervision, and administrative support for both the Director of Academics and Innovation and the school counseling team.
Key Responsibilities:
Library Support:
Maintain the Advisory / Flex schedule using the Securly Flex platform.
Manage library operations, including circulation of books, Chromebooks, TV carts, and other media.
Supervise student use of the Library Media Center (LMC) and enforce appropriate behavior and technology use.
Provide basic troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.
Support staff and students in using educational technology and maker-space tools.
Maintain accurate circulation records and catalog updates.
Operate and maintain the laminator and other equipment.
Organize and run library programs such as book clubs, Book Olympics, and Makerspace activities.
Prepare engaging library displays and promote reading and literacy.
Ensure the library is a welcoming, inclusive, and inquiry-driven space.
Student Supervision:
Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension.
Monitor student behavior in the library and assist with lunch supervision as needed.
Administrative Support:
Assist with general office tasks: word processing, filing, copying, data entry, and preparing mailings.
Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
Support the counseling department and Director of Academics and Innovation with clerical duties.
Manage overdue notices, fines, and re-shelving materials.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of library materials and equipment.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school environment.
Comfort with technology and willingness to learn new systems.
Experience working with students is preferred.
Minimum requirement of a high school diploma or equivalency. Post secondary education and experience in the fields of libraries, technology, and education will be an asset. Must possess an interest in and affinity for direct work with young people and staff. This position requires a great deal of activity, and strong communication skills.
