The Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District is located in Southeast Wisconsin and serves approximately 450 students in the Trevor-Wilmot communities from grades 4K through 8th. The Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District is seeking an Educational Assistant for Special Education to serve as a positive role model to our students and who has the desire to work with students who have disability related needs in learning, behavior, and social/emotional development. Work is performed under the supervision of general and special educators and administration.
Essential Functions:
Work with students individually or in a small group to reinforce and support learning of materials or skills, including academic, social, and behavioral initially introduced by the supervising teacher.
Assist in modifying curriculum and/or instructional activities and materials as directed by the supervising teacher(s).
As directed, prepare and organize materials to support teaching and learning.
Assist students with organization of needed materials (books,folder, etc) from lockers.
Repeat directions and check on student''s understanding of assignment requirements.
Supervise and assist student with instructional technology.
Monitors, maintains, and reinforces behavior supports for individual student behavior support plans created by the supervising teacher and other certified personnel.
Assist students with personal hygiene skills such as toileting, diapering, feeding, hand washing, hair combing, and clothes adjusting, if needed.
Place, lift, and position students in standers or walkers, if needed.
Support an inclusive, positive, safe and healthy environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
Serve as liaison between the classroom teacher and special education teacher.
Assist in modifying the learning environment to manage behavior.
Interact with students in a manner that reflects knowledge of similarities and differences associated with disabilities and cultural diversity.
Use appropriate strategies and techniques to increase students' self-esteem, self-awareness, self-control, self-reliance, and self-advocacy.
Assists in data collection including progress monitoring of individualized education plans (IEP) goals for students.
Attend team meetings and staff development provided by the district, as required.
Perform duties with the direction of licensed staff in a manner consistent with requirements of the law, rules, and regulations, and District policies and procedures.
Perform all other duties as required by the Director of Pupil Services or his/her designee.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, administration, and the general public
Ability to perform basic office skills, including typing, filing, record keeping, and data entry
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience as a Special Education Aide or Regular Education Aide preferred.
Previous experience working across settings with students that demonstrate challenging behaviors preferred.
DPI Special Education Program Aide license or ability to obtain a license upon hire.

$16.24 to $18.00 based on education and experience

M-F: 7:45 - 3:45 pm; School year only (end of August through early June)
