Education Specialist, Criminal Law Division, OAG

Closing Date: Open until filled.

Start Date: To be determined upon hire.

Salary: $26.00 - $30.00/hr, DOE

The Education Specialist assists the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force with community outreach and education.

Primary job duties include:

  • Presenting to groups throughout Idaho on internet safety and related topics.
  • Serving as the primary point-of-contact between the public and the ICAC Unit.
  • Managing inquiries from parents, schools, organizations, and community partners.
  • Creating and maintaining public presentations on ICAC and internet safety.
  • Managing the ICAC Unit's website and social media presence.
  • Drafting press releases
  • Assisting investigators with administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining professional partnerships with outside law enforcement agencies and other public entities.
  • Representing the OAG with professionalism in all public, interagency, and community settings.

The person in this position must have mental resiliency to deal with difficult subjects such as the sexual abuse of children and violent crimes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with major social media applications.
  • Ability to pass Criminal Justice Information System background check (CJIS) and maintain CJIS access.
  • Must possess valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Must be able to drive and travel. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in education, communications, criminal justice, or related field, and/or relevant coursework in internet safety and digital literacy.
  • Experience in public speaking, teaching, or training.
  • Experience managing social media platforms in a professional capacity, including creating content, monitoring engagement, and tracking analytics.
