For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Duration

This position is funded for up to 2080 total hours.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Education, history, interpretation, or similar

  • Knowledge of interpretive principles, practices, techniques, and themes to convey, connect, and facilitate shared learning experiences with diverse audiences; ability to develop and present specific interpretive experiences to in-person and virtual audiences using interpretive skills, techniques, and tools; and ability to prepare and deliver structured and informal presentations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated practical knowledge of concepts and principles of current educational philosophy, theory, methods, and practices as they apply to education program delivery.

Duties:

Serves as an Education Specialist at Pullman National Historical Park, advancing the park?s public education mission by developing and delivering interpretive programs and guided tours that communicate its significance in American industrial history, labor movements, and planned communities. Coordinates joint programming with partner organizations and supports daily interpretive operations, including scheduling, visitor services, and special events.

  • Delivers and develops interpretive programs and visitor experiences (e.g., guided tours, walks, talks, demonstrations, and special events) for the general public, using current interpretive principles and conducting basic historical research to connect audiences to the park?s significance in American industrial history, labor movements, and planned communities.   40%
  • Coordinates and supports joint programming with partner organizations, including scheduling, communication, and logistics for shared events and education initiatives across the park and its partners.   25%
  • Collaborates with educators, community groups, and other audiences to plan and schedule limited curriculum-based and group programs.   10%
  • Supports interpretive operations and visitor services, assisting with daily program delivery, staffing needs, and special events, and functioning in a role similar to a park ranger as needed.   25%

Other:
  • Physical requirements: Position requires frequent standing, walking, and speaking for extended periods while conducting tours and programs, both indoors and outdoors. Duties may involve walking several miles over uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and working in a range of weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry program materials and equipment (up to approximately 25 pounds). Requires effective verbal communication and the ability to interact with diverse audiences in a public-facing environment.
