DEFINITION Uses knowledge of English and Vietnamese to provide assistance to certificated staff in academic instruction and language proficiency assessment of students identified as English learners; and performs a variety of related services requiring skills in English and the designated language.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives supervision from a manager at or above the level of Coordinator. Receives technical instructions from a teacher or other certificated staff member. Exercises no supervision.

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION: This is a non-exempt position, Regular Classified Salary Range 34. Most positions in this class work 6 hours/9 months. The probationary period for employees in this classification is six (6) months (or 130 working days of paid service).

THE EXAMINATION: Written Examination. WEIGHT: 100% Assessment Examination. WEIGHT: Pass/Fail. This requirement can be met by one of the following: • Completion of at least 48 semester units or (72 quarter units) at the college level • Possession of an Associate's or higher-level degree • Pass the Assessment Examination
Only qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit. Candidates will be notified in accordance with the Personnel Commission Rules. This eligibility list will be active for a period of (1) year.
