At Audible, we believe stories have the power to transform lives. It's why we work with some of the world's leading creators to produce and share audio storytelling with our millions of global listeners. We are dreamers and inventors who come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to empower and inspire each other. Imagine your future with us.

About This Role

Audible's Content team is looking for a smart, passionate, book and podcast-obsessed editor to support the ongoing curation needs of the editorial team and to oversee the Hear My Story program—collections by storytellers from diverse backgrounds and experiences. The Editor is expected to define the goals and strategy of the program, ensuring that they ladder up to the overall goals of both the larger department and the business. They will oversee the ongoing updates of each page across our Global English marketplaces, and also work cross-functionally with other partner teams on the execution of various Hear My Story collections. The Senior Editor understands how to measure the success of their program and report on and share results. The role also requires being an active participant in other Editorial programs, such as Editors Select and Best of the Year, lending subject matter and genre expertise where appropriate.

About The Team

Our content team focuses on creating incredible listening experiences. Whether producing new content in our state-of-the-art facilities at Audible Studios or managing editorials, our team is committed to delivering engaging, exciting, and enthralling stories every single time. Our in-house publishing team is made up of passionate individuals who are full of fresh ideas and innovative approaches that enable us to not only share classic tales with our audiences worldwide, but create them, too.

As An Editor, You Will…
  • Oversee Editorial's Hear My Story ("HMS") program, collections by storytellers from diverse backgrounds and experiences, across our Global English marketplaces
  • Work with the individual HMS page owners on the Editorial team to ensure each experience (across blog and app) maintains an "always on" feel
  • Advocate for and secure Blog content to support each HMS page (i.e. interviews, 5 listens with, relevant articles etc.)
  • Deliver on results of the program, and oversee the strategy for the program's overall health
  • Offer subject-matter expertise on various genres
  • Conceive, pitch, create, and edit content for our Blog designed to help our listeners find their next great listen

About the Company

A

Amazon

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
