Brief Position Overview The Assistant Director of the Early Learning Center supports the director in the daily administration and operation of the early learning center. This position assists with staff supervision scheduling reporting classroom support and compliance with licensing and program standards. The assistant director plays a key role in maintaining program quality supporting staff and ensuring a safe and positive environment for children and families.

Position Details

General Statement The Assistant Director of the Early Learning Center supports the Director in the daily administration and operation of the center. This position assists with staff supervision scheduling reporting classroom support and compliance with licensing and program standards. The Assistant Director plays a key role in maintaining program quality supporting staff and ensuring a safe and positive environment for children and families. This position typically demands flexibility within center operating hours of 700 a.m. to 600 p.m. Monday through Friday however occasional evening or weekend hours for meetings training or facility planning may be required. Additionally this role requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to move throughout the facility as needed to support daily operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist the director with daily center operations and management.
  2. Assist in center reporting including Best Beginnings documentation CACFP reporting and other center administration.
  3. Assist in classrooms as needed
  4. Support staff in developing & implementing professional development plans encouraging ongoing professional learning and compliance with required trainings
  5. Support program compliance with Montana child care licensing regulations STARS to Quality standards Early Head Start standards and Child and Adult Care Food Programs as well as others as applicable
  6. Ensure learning environments are safe welcoming developmentally appropriate and well-maintained.

Required Qualifications - Experience Education Knowledge & Skills

  1. Associates degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development Family and Consumer Sciences or a related field.
  2. Qualification and annual registration as Level 4 or higher on the Practitioner Registry.
  3. At least 2 years of leadership experience in a licensed early childhood setting.
  4. Proof of required immunizations e.g. Tdap MMR.
  5. Current AdultInfantChild CPR and First Aid Certification.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience Education Knowledge & Skills

  1. Experience with CACFP STARS to Quality and EHS collaboration.
  2. Knowledge of SmartCare QuickBooks Practitioner Registry ECP and CACFP systems.
