Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and dedicated Pre-K Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the minds of our youngest learners (ages 35) by creating a safe, nurturing, and highly engaging classroom environment. You will design and implement a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, ensuring every child is socially, emotionally, and academically prepared for Kindergarten.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Management
- Lesson Planning: Develop and execute daily lesson plans that foster cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development using hands-on, play-based learning.
- Texas Standards Alignment: Structure activities around the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines (covering social-emotional skills, language/communication, emergent literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies).
- Assessment: Conduct ongoing, authentic assessments of child progress (e.g., portfolios, checklists, and observations) to track development and differentiate instruction.
- Classroom Environment: Maintain a vibrant, clean, organized, and print-rich classroom environment with clearly defined interest areas (learning centers).
Child Safety & Well-being
- Supervision: Ensure constant, visual supervision of all children at all times, prioritizing their physical and emotional safety.
- Licensing Compliance: Adhere strictly to Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) Child Care Regulation standards and minimum standards.
- Health & Hygiene: Teach and model healthy habits, including proper handwashing, and oversee snack/meal times and bathroom transitions.
Family & Community Engagement
- Communication: Maintain open, regular communication with parents and guardians through daily reports, newsletters, or digital communication apps.
- Conferences: Conduct parent-teacher conferences to share progress, celebrate milestones, and collaborate on developmental goals.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent AND a National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, OR an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with a valid Texas Educator Certificate (e.g., Core Subjects: Early ChildhoodGrade 6).
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience working with children aged 35 in a licensed child care center or public school setting.
Certifications & Requirements
- Must pass a comprehensive Texas HHS fingerprint-based criminal background check.
- Must possess (or be willing to obtain within 30 days of hire) valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must complete the required pre-service training hours as mandated by Texas Child Care Regulation.
