Organization: Davies Development Center– Early Intervention School for kids with hearing loss and speech delays
Rate: $18 - 25 per hour (depending on qualifications)
Location: Katy, Texas
Position Type: Part-Time, On-Call

Position Overview: 
Davies Development Center is seeking compassionate and reliable Substitute Teachers to join our team and provide coverage when regular teaching staff are absent. This role is critical in maintaining a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment for children ages 12 months to 5 years. As a Substitute Teacher, you will assist children in daily activities, encourage communication and social development, and support the classroom routines established by the lead teachers.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Supervise and engage children in a safe, supportive, and positive environment.
  • Follow established classroom schedules, lesson plans, and routines.
  • Assist with feeding, diapering/toileting, and transitions as appropriate for age level.
  • Encourage speech, listening, and social interaction during play and activities.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and, when appropriate, with parents.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.

Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or early childhood coursework preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working with young children (infant through preschool age) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms and teaching styles.
  • Patience, compassion, and strong communication skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).

Compensation & Schedule: 
  • Hourly Rate: $15 – $18 (based on experience and qualifications).
  • Flexible, as-needed schedule.
